Raptors reportedly had interest in $82.5M wing before he was traded

I'm unsure if the Toronto Raptors are staying quiet at the moment because of the entire Kawhi Leonard situation, but they'll probably be looking for that to get figured out sometime over the next few weeks.

It remains uncertain how much longer this Leonard saga will continue, but it has to be a bit frustrating for a team that has a real opportunity to compete at a super high level if he's on the roster next season.

Only time will tell what will happen, but it's also important that Toronto doesn't allow other players it wants to end up with different teams just because of the uncertainty around the situation.

According to the latest report, they had interest in Lu Dort, now of the Atlanta Hawks, after he was traded by the Oklahoma City Thunder.

“Several teams expressed trade interest in acquiring Dort before he was traded to Atlanta, including the Los Angeles Lakers, Brooklyn Nets, Toronto Raptors, and Miami Heat, league sources told HoopsHype,” Michael Scotto wrote.

I'm going under the assumption that Leonard will be on the Raptors on opening night, which would have given them a defensive lineup of Leonard, Scottie Barnes, Dort, and Collin Murray-Boyles. I think that would be the best four-man defensive lineup that we would see in the Eastern Conference and would put the Raptors in firm contention for the best defense in the NBA.

Perhaps they have some other moves up their sleeves, but it would have been nice to add a player like Dort.
