No one knows what the hold up is on LeBron James' free agency.
It apparently doesn't have anything to do with Anthony Davis trade considerations, though.
ESPN's Shams Charania joined the Pat McAfee Show on Thursday and said this:
“They’re not waiting for Anthony Davis to get traded anywhere. Not waiting for anyone else to move around anywhere."
When the Warriors first started to emerge as a potential suitor for James, the idea came out that LeBron wanted them to trade for AD from the Washington Wizards and have him join with LeBron in the Bay Area.
Because of salaries, basically the only way that could've worked is if Jimmy Butler was sent in return to the Wizards. But the Warriors also made it pretty blunt that they had no plans to trade Butler.
So it felt from the beginning like that may have been a bit off base -- but the rumor persisted for a while.
Charania's report pretty much puts that to bed. It suggests Davis isn't going anywhere.

It also removes one possible waiting game element for LeBron. Charania's report also indicates that it's not just about Davis, and that James isn't waiting for any trade -- including a recently rumored Jalen Green situation with the Phoenix Suns to pair with LeBron in one of his destinations.
The reality at this point is simply that no one really knows anything.
LeBron is still a free agent. He'll sign eventually. In the meantime, patience is a virtue, and it's hard to possess while it's King James still being waited for to make his choice.
