Jonathan Kuminga is a polarizing player, but in many offseasons, he would've already signed a free agent contract with a new team.
This year, though, the former Golden State Warriors and Atlanta Hawks youngster is still waiting for a deal.
It's for the same reason everything is at a standstill in the NBA: LeBron James.
There are a lot of players who are likely being forced to wait to sign until the league knows which team King James has picked.
“I think that we’re going to see eight or nine players sign right after LeBron makes his choice,” a source told NBA insiders Marc Stein and Jake Fischer. “Maybe more.”

Kuminga is believed to fall into that category.
It does make sense. Kuminga plays a similar position to James, and at least one team that wants LeBron has also been linked to Kuminga: the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Stein and Fischer also have suggested that the Hawks could try to pull off a sign-and-trade with Kuminga, but there isn't necessarily a reason for the unrestricted free agent Kuminga to go along with that.
That could be a possibility if each portion of the negotiation gets a little extra incentive out of it, but regardless of the mechanics, a Kuminga move is still one that the NBA is waiting to see made.
Unlike most remaining free agents, Kuminga is still heading toward his conceptual prime, and so his eventual signing could have long-term implications.
He'll just have to wait for LeBron to make up his mind before he can finally figure out where this offseason is going to take him.
