The New York Knicks have established a culture that defines winning by playing for each other. Jalen Brunson’s infamous pay cut helped set them up to build what would ultimately become a championship team, paving the way for a legacy in the Big Apple.
Knicks’ Josh Hart could take pay cut in next contract
His fellow teammates have already begun following in his footsteps. Last summer, Mikal Bridges signed a four-year, $150 million extension, signing for $6 million less than the full contract to ensure New York can continue building a championship roster.

Now, Josh Hart seems to be next in line. According to NBA reporter Evan Sidery, Hart is expected to take a team-friendly deal in his next contract to give the Knicks financial relief. Hart becomes eligible for a four-year extension on August 10th.
Hart has been an integral piece to the Knicks’ core, given how much he provides. He had a career year last season averaging 12.0 points, 7.4 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 1.1 steals, and shooting 41.3% from three-point range.
Hart’s impact is off the charts
Hart’s hustle and energy is infectious, and his impact on winning cannot be understated.

The versatility is off the charts, and keeping him for a cheaper price to keep the core intact would be an incredible luxury. He has established himself as one of the most dynamic role players in the league, perfectly playing his role in order to help the team win.
The Knicks are a team of unity, playing for one another to ensure everyone earns a great amount of success. Rather than chasing a bag, the players care more about their legacies and their impact on New York, which is what has made this collective so legendary.
