PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - Several employees with the Trail Blazers broadcasting team have been laid off, including long-time TV analyst Michael Holton, [according to a new report from Forbes](https://www.forbes.com/sites/maurybrown/2026/07/21/under-tom-dundon-portland-trail-blazers-make-dramatic-cuts-to-broadcast-team/).
These cuts to Blazers broadcasting comes after [Tom Dundon and Blazers leadership laid off 70 employees earlier this year to cut expenses](https://www.kptv.com/2026/05/19/portland-trail-blazers-layoff-undisclosed-number-staff/).
According to the article, the new cuts come in the form of layoffs and contracts not being renewed. Along with big names like Holton, the cuts go beyond on-air talent.
The TV production crew has also been reduced, and according to Forbes, they’re planning to cut back on graphics for their broadcast, which could impact quality.
When contacted for comment, the Trail Blazers issued FOX 12 the following statement:
“We are deeply grateful to all the hard-working individuals who have contributed to our award-winning broadcasts over the years. I can’t comment on individual personnel decisions, but I can confirm that we are making changes for the upcoming season as we continue to evolve with the changes in the broadcast industry and look to become more efficient in our business operations.
“While plans are still being finalized, play-by-play radio broadcasts will continue in the 2026-27 season, and will not be television simulcasts.”
