According to ESPN's Anthony Slater on NBA Today, the star forward "turned the corner" in the past few weeks regarding his ongoing rehabilitation.

"I've talked to people that have been around Jimmy Butler recently. They say he's a little over five months from the ACL surgery. He's turned the corner a little bit in the last few weeks. He still can't run unrestricted or sprints in a full line, but they feel like he's making progress," the veteran Warriors reporter said.

"There's probably an unfair burden being put on him to come back in the January, February range, 11 or 12 months, and boost them mid-season, considering he's 37. But he's a really confident individual. He is extension-eligible in February, so there's some personal motivation. He'll be an unrestricted free agent next summer. I talked to him last month. ... He's basically, again, as confident as ever, saying he expects to come back as the same player that he was when he left."

Jimmy Butler making good progress in ACL tear recovery

Jimmy Butler notably went down with a brutal torn ACL injury in his right knee last February, crushing the Golden State Warriors' 2025-26 title hopes and keeping him out for the remainder of the season.

He is expected to return at some point in 2026-27.

Previously, Butler offered strong and confident words that he would be back to what he was used to being for the Warriors.

"I'm right back to who I've always been," Butler said about his recovery. "Probably better if we was to really talk about it. I know I'm still going to be a top player whenever I get back. I have a couple good years left in me, and we're going to ride it until the wheels fall off."

With the Warriors aiming to run it back next year, Butler's play coming off a grinding ACL recovery will heavily determine their championship odds.
