Cooper Flagg and his family took on Dave Portnoy’s crew on Family Feud

As the dog days of summer roll in, Dallas Mavericks’ star Cooper Flagg and his family gave us a little non-basketball levity. Team Flagg joined host Steve Harvey for a game of Celebrity Family Feud on Thursday night. Flagg was joined by his twin brother Ace, his other brother Hunter, his mother Kelly, father Ralph and “Papa” Dan. They were playing for The Ronald McDonald House of Dallas. Their opponents were Team Barstool, led by Dave Portnoy and featuring his crew, Ryan, Rico, Kirk, Jersey Jerry and Stu.

Round 1 – Cooper vs. Dave

The game started with Cooper and Dave in the opening faceoff. Flagg was beat to the buzzer, giving the board to Team Barstool. They put up a few correct answers, but Team Flagg had the last laugh when Team Barstool got their third strike and passed control back, at which point the Flagg’s got the steal for the win.

Round 2 – Ace vs. Ryan

Team Flagg took control after Ace and Ryan both blanked on their answer, kicking the question over to bench. There, both Team Flagg and Team Barstool had responses, but Hunter had the better of the two, giving his team control. Team Flagg eventually turned it over to Team Barstool, but they ultimately flamed out with a third strike on an answer worthy of being bleeped, prompting Steve Harvey to joke that they would not be asked to return in the future. From there, Team Flagg once again got the steal.

Round 3 – Hunter vs. Rico

The third faceoff found both teams feeling more comfortable. Hunter and Rico both actually hit the buzzer this time, but Hunter was quicker and gave the top response. From there, no steals were needed. Team Flagg cleared the board for their third straight win and a stranglehold on the game.

Round 4 – Kelly vs. Kirk

Kirk got to the buzzer first, but had the bottom answer on the board, allowing Kelly to take over with a response of her own. With control of the board again, Team Flagg cleared it. They know their pizza! Taking the fourth round gave Team Flagg a dominating 543 to 0 win over Team Portnoy and the opportunity to play Fast Money.

Fast Money Part 1 – Ace

Ace left time on the board, ripping through his five questions for a whopping 151 points. His highlight answer was “lightsaber” in response to the first question asking what Storm Troopers might do to prank Darth Vader. The other questions were: how many days does someone work out in a good week, what wild animal you may find in a city, a type of cereal that has flakes, and what you should never ask a woman.

Fast Money Part 2 – Cooper

Cooper only needed 49 points, but was up against it since Ace left so few high-point answers for him. Undeterred, Cooper brought it home by the time he got to the third question, putting Team Flagg over the magic number of 200 points. Not that they needed it, but the final two responses Cooper gave (corn flakes, and her age, respectively) were number one answers. $25,000 was headed to The Ronald McDonald House!

All in all, it was a fun night that gave Cooper Flagg and his family some more national exposure outside of the NBA world, all the while doing good for a charity. It harkened back to many moons ago when Michael Finely made an appearance on Wheel of Fortune during his playing days. This was another level however, as Flagg and his family were featured players of the game. Something like this is only good for Flagg and his family, as well as the Mavericks’ organization in terms of exposure and good will. The real winner of course is The Ronald McDonald House.
