Newcastle United have dropped a hint over Bruno Guimaraes by including him in a video promoting their new away shirt. Arsenal are reportedly set to make a £70million offer for the Brazilian midfielder.

The Magpies captain is a priority target for Mikel Arteta's side, with the 28-year-old keen to join. Newcastle are aware of Guimaraes' stance and football.london's sister-title, ChronicleLive, have described selling him for £70m as a 'non-starter'.

Their report also states that Newcastle are supposedly growing fed up of Arsenal's approach, with there still being no direct contact between the two clubs. It appears that the North East club are confident about keeping their star midfielder.

Guimaraes can be seen promoting Newcastle's new shirt in a video posted on their social media platforms on Thursday evening. The Brazil international has been a fan favourite at St James' Park and supporters will be desperate for him to stay.

However, Newcastle have struggled to retain their top talent in recent seasons. Star striker Alexander Isak completed a British-record £125m move to Liverpool last summer and that has been followed in recent months by the departures of winger Anthony Gordon to Barcelona and midfielder Sandro Tonali to Tottenham Hotspur.

There are now fears that Eddie Howe could be set to wave goodbye to another key player, with Guimaraes keen to join Arteta's team.

Arsenal are determined to strengthen their squad with high-quality players this summer as they seek to build on last season's Premier League title win.

The north London club were interested in signing England international Morgan Rogers, who has joined Chelsea for £117m, from Aston Villa - but refused to go higher than Villa's £80m valuation of the player. BBC Sport claim that Arsenal were given the opportunity to match Chelsea's offer for Rogers but declined.

And it is claimed that the Gunners also have a hardline maximum valuation of Guimaraes and are unwilling to overpay despite their desire to sign the midfielder.

Thousands of Arsenal fans upgraded their matchday last season. This is how they did it.

However, they may need to go the extra mile for a player who still has two years remaining on his current deal. Newcastle also hold an option to extend his contract by another year, giving them some leverage.

ChronicleLive report that Newcastle expect Guimaraes to be back with his current teammates during the first week of August following his extended post-World Cup break.

The former Lyon star would therefore be in line to participate in Newcastle's training camp in Spain’s La Manga and potentially play in their friendly against Valencia on August 8 - unless he moves to Emirates Stadium beforehand.
