New Aston Villa signing Alejandro Garnacho believes Unai Emery can help him rediscover the form that first propelled him into the limelight at Manchester United.
The 22-year-old winger has joined Villa on an initial season-long loan, with the move set to become permanent if he makes a specified number of appearances next season.
Garnacho only joined Chelsea last summer in a £40 million move from Manchester United, but he struggled to produce his best form during his time at Stamford Bridge.
Now embarking on a new chapter in his career, the Argentina international is eager to get started under Emery and make a fresh impact.
“I’m really happy to be here,” he said on Villa TV. “I can’t wait to start on the pitch. It’s an important club that is growing really quickly, so I can’t wait to get started.
“I was looking for a club to get confidence at and to try to be the player I was in my first years at Manchester United.
“I spoke with the manager and I think he will give me the confidence to be here and to help the team.
“I saw the Europa League last season and now we’re joining the Champions League; it’s important to be a part of this.
“I spoke with Unai before I came here and he gave me confidence. That’s why I’m here.
“It’s important to play in European competitions. The Champions League is the best one, so we’re going to play in that this season.
“I’m really happy about that and hopefully we can do something important.”
Speaking about playing at Villa Park, Garnacho said: “It is one of my favourite stadiums in the league and now it will be my home. I’m really happy and I can’t wait to meet the fans.”
