Hello, and welcome to the Liverpool ECHO's transfer blog.

It's been a big week for the Reds. Let's recap, shall we? Well, Andoni Iraola and his players are currently in the United States, Chicago to be exact.

The Liverpool boss has taken a group of 31 players ahead of games against Sunderland, Wrexham and Leeds United.

Off the pitch, there was a bit of a bombshell with the news that the club's owners, Fenway Sports Group, have confirmed that a consortium of investors, led by British-Indian businessman Amit Bhatia, have approached them about a stake in the club, with Amazon founder Jeff Bezos also said to have held talks around his potential involvement.

No agreement is in place, and talks remain at an early stage, but it's understood the group is backed by the Mittal family, whose net worth was most recently valued at over £26billion. On to the small matter of transfers, and Iraola himself said this week that the Reds remain in the market for at least one winger this window, and maybe a right-back due to Conor Bradley's injury.

There's been some twists and turns with transfers as well. Contact was said to have been made over Monaco star Maghnes Akliouche, although we understand that move isn't going any further while Bradley Barcola continues to be linked with a switch to Anfield.Stick with us for all the latest Liverpool news, rumours and gossip.
