Arsenal launch new adidas away shirt for 2026/27 season

Arsenal have officially unveiled their away kit for the 2026/27 season and, at first glance, it has all the makings of a fan favourite.

The design is effectively an inverted take on the cult classic ‘Bruised Banana’ shirt of the early nineties. A deep “collegiate navy” base is overlaid with the same geometric zig-zag chevrons that made the original so distinctive, only this time the colours are reversed.

Yellow features prominently throughout, colouring the adidas trefoil, the adidas shoulder stripes, the Arsenal cannon and the logos of front-of-shirt sponsor Emirates and sleeve partner Deel. Red detailing on the collar and cuffs provides a welcome splash of contrast and ties the shirt back to Arsenal’s traditional colours.

The accompanying shorts and socks continue the theme, predominantly navy with yellow accents, making for a clean, understated look.

Taken as a whole, it’s a very handsome kit, and arguably Arsenal’s strongest away offering since the black-and-bronze strip of 2022/23.

The club’s official description reads:

The design brings the spirit of the iconic Bruised Banana design, originally worn from 1991-93, into the modern era and follows Arsenal’s 2025/26 Premier League title win.

Few football shirts have achieved the status of Arsenal’s celebrated early-1990s away jersey. Instantly recognisable and forever associated with a defining period in the club’s history, the design remains one of the most beloved and has become a symbol of a team whose style, personality and success left a lasting mark on football, that created memories generations of supporters still carry today.

For the 2026/27 season, adidas and Arsenal revisit that legacy, creating a fresh interpretation that honours the past whilst reflecting the ambition of the Premier League champions as they look forward to an exciting new era.

For better or worse, adidas have developed something of a fascination with lightning bolts and zig-zag patterns since returning as Arsenal’s kit manufacturer in 2019, and this season they’re leaning into that aesthetic more than ever.

The forthcoming third kit, which harks back to the 2021/22 away strip, is also expected to feature lightning graphics across both the yellow shirt and blue shorts. We’ll leave it to you to decide whether it’s a stroke of genius or simply a design team running out of new ideas.

The new away kit is available now from Arsenal and adidas. Prices start at £85 for the replica shirt, while the player-spec authentic version costs £120. Long-sleeved, women’s and cropped versions are also available for those looking to complete the collection.
