The Minnesota Timberwolves’ star Anthony Edwards is starting a new chapter of his life as he got married to Shannon Jackson, who has been his girlfriend for over six years (since 2020).
Edwards sparked rumors on July 17 when fans observed he was wearing a black ring during his appearance at the Fanatics Fest. Subsequently, curious Timberwolves fans looked into court records and confirmed that the 24-year-old superstar is no longer a bachelor.
Eric Strack of Minnesota Sports Fan confirmed through Hennepin County marital records online that James had registered his marriage just a day before his appearance at Fanatics Fest.
“Sure enough, though, while we’ve all been busy waiting for LeBron James news, Anthony Jermal Edwards indeed took a major step in his personal life, officially marrying Shannon La’Shay Jackson in Hennepin County on July 16, 2026,” wrote Strack on the website.
The Timberwolves star, who turns 25 on August 5, already has a two-year-old daughter, Aislynn, with Shannon Jackson. It seems Edwards had a private ceremony for his nuptials with his longtime girlfriend, as no pictures of the event have surfaced on social media yet.
Jackson has been with Anthony Edwards through a lot of his controversial and tough times as well, like when he had a child with his ex-girlfriend, Ayesha Howard, and was involved in ugly subsequent proceedings over child support, even until recently.
Anthony Edwards Wins Child Support Battle With Ex-Girlfriend
On July 22, after a Georgia judge decided on child support for their one-year-old daughter, Anthony Edwards won his dragged-out battle with his baby mama, Ayesha Howard, according to TMZ.
A Georgia judge ordered the Minnesota Timberwolves star to pay $3,222 in child support each month, reducing it from $5,000 per month.
According to the documents, Anthony has been paying child support since January 2025. He started with a $20K payment and continued to make $5K monthly payments until the trial date. Anthony has already paid $110,000 in child support.
This issue was brought to the court after Howard tried to file a case against Anthony Edwards in California, which alleged expectations of a higher child support award.
In 2023, Edwards had signed a massive five-year, $244 million contract extension with the Timberwolves while Howard’s income was listed at zero. Therefore, the child support amount was set at $5,000 per month.
However, the court observed that Howard failed to appear in court and her representation provided insufficient evidence to make a compelling case for the matter to be moved to California. Hence, they ruled in favor of Anthony Edwards by reducing the child support amount and ordering that the case has its nexus in Georgia only and not in California.
