Liverpool remains eager to sign Monaco winger Maghnes Akliouche this summer as the Reds hunt for a successor to Mohamed Salah, but the club faces competition from Paris Saint-Germain

Liverpool knows exactly how much it would take to sign highly rated Monaco winger Maghnes Akliouche, according to reports.
The Reds are in the market for attacking reinforcements this summer following the departure of Mohamed Salah and the long-term injury to Hugo Ekitike. Andoni Iraola's squad has already been boosted by the acquisition of Osasuna's Victor Munoz, although the Spain international is yet to join up with his new teammates due to his involvement at the World Cup.
RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande had been heavily linked with a move to Anfield earlier in the transfer window, but the winger has instead chosen to move to Paris Saint-Germain if he departs the German side this summer. Alternatively, Bradley Barcola is another name that continues to dominate the headlines, although he would likely prove a difficult signing given PSG's stance on his future and the fee they would likely demand.
Therefore, it comes as no surprise to see other options emerge, with Monaco's Akliouche the latest to be linked with a move to Anfield. Sky Sports News reported earlier this week that the Reds made an initial approach for the 24-year-old and enquired about the Frenchman's availability.
However, much like Diomande, the Merseyside outfit would face fierce competition for Akliouche if they decide to step up their interest, not least from European champions PSG. The Sky Sports report noted that the Ligue 1 outfit have made Akliouche one of their primary targets this summer and have already had several bids rejected by Monaco.
The latest update comes from The Athletic's James Pearce, speaking on GIVEMESPORT's Market Madness podcast, where he confirmed discussions have taken place. However, he cautioned that Akliouche is just one of several targets under consideration.

Liverpool also know it would likely take a fee in the region of £42.7m-£51.3m to secure his services, while also fending off competition from PSG. “They’ve certainly had some discussions about it,” Pearce explained.
“I was told yesterday that there had been an approach earlier on in the window for the Monaco right-winger, and he is just one of a number of targets being kind of assessed at the minute.
"I think you’d be looking at £42.7m-£51.3m for Akliouche, so yeah, he’s certainly one that I say is a possibility, rather than a kind of definite they’ll be making a move for him.”
Akliouche progressed through the academy ranks at Monaco before making the step up to first-team football in 2022. He has since made more than 130 senior appearances across all competitions, scoring 23 goals and registering 28 assists.
Last season, he featured 43 times across all competitions for Monaco, scoring seven goals and providing 11 assists. By comparison, Barcola scored 13 goals and registered seven assists in six more appearances.

Liverpool are currently in Chicago as they step up their preparations for the new season with a tour of the United States. This weekend, they take on Premier League outfit Sunderland in a friendly before facing Wrexham and Leeds United ahead of their return to England in early August.
