Arsenal are prepared to offer one of their star players in order to sign one of their top targets this summer

Arsenal are prepared to offer Viktor Gyokeres as part of a deal for Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez. Sources indicate the Gunners are willing to discuss a cash-plus-player swap as they ramp up plans to pursue the Argentina international, who is viewed as a priority target.
Atletico Madrid have repeatedly insisted they will not sell Alvarez to domestic rivals Barcelona, even after the player made clear his wish to leave. Arsenal believe this stance could open the door for a different type of approach. The 26-year-old has scored 49 goals and provided 17 assists in 106 appearances since joining from Manchester City.
Gyokeres arrived at Arsenal last summer for £55million from Sporting CP. He finished his debut season with 21 goals in 55 appearances but struggled for consistency and was left out of the starting line-up for the Champions League final. Some supporters remain unconvinced about his long-term role in the side.

Alvarez has already shown his quality in the Premier League and recently helped Argentina reach a successive World Cup final. He registered 20 goals and 10 assists in 52 appearances for Atletico last season. Speaking at the World Cup he said: “I spoke with people at the club (Atletico), with those I had to speak with, and the best thing for everyone is a transfer as I want to fulfil my dream. It’s not the time to talk about this, but I also can’t hide it. I try to be an honest person.”
Whether Atletico would accept a part-exchange involving Gyokeres remains unclear. The Spanish club hold a strong negotiating position and have already rejected substantial bids. Arsenal’s willingness to include the Swedish forward shows their determination to find a solution.
Supporters will watch the situation with interest. Alvarez would represent a significant upgrade in attack if a deal can be structured, while Gyokeres could gain a fresh start elsewhere. The coming weeks will reveal whether this creative approach gains any traction with Atletico.
