Mexican side Atlante FC officially sign former Arsenal star at 37-years-old this summer ahead of the 2026/27 season

Former Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina has signed for Mexican side Atlante FC. The 37-year-old Colombia international becomes a free agent after leaving Atlético Nacional and has chosen to continue his career with the newly promoted club.
Ospina had been linked with retirement following his departure from the Colombian side. Instead he has opted for a move to Mexico, where Atlante have secured a high-profile addition. He is the latest Colombian goalkeeper to feature in the league after the success of players such as Miguel Calero, Camilo Vargas and Kevin Mier.
The experienced shot-stopper joined Arsenal from Nice in July 2014 after impressing at the World Cup. He made 70 appearances across four seasons in north London, serving as cup goalkeeper and spending periods as the first-choice league option. During his time at the club he won two FA Cups and a Community Shield.

A reduced role after the arrival of Bernd Leno led to a loan move to Napoli in 2018. The Italian club later made the transfer permanent. Ospina also had spells with Al-Nassr and Atlético Nacional before this latest chapter.
Most recently he was part of Colombia’s World Cup squad but did not feature during the tournament. At 37 he will now look to bring his experience to Atlante as they prepare for life back in the top flight.
Arsenal supporters will wish the former Gunner well as he embarks on this new adventure. Ospina’s career has taken him across several countries and he continues to show the determination that first brought him to the Premier League more than a decade ago. The move to Mexico provides another opportunity to play regular football and share his knowledge with a new group of teammates.
