Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott is said to favour a move to one specific Premier League club this summer
Young midfielders with strong Premier League form often find themselves in demand during the summer window. When one major club withdraws from the race, it can clear the path for another. Player preference and concerns over regular game time frequently influence the final decision.
Clubs that set ambitious valuations sometimes see potential buyers step away. Remaining interested parties must then decide whether to meet the asking price or look elsewhere. Fallback options become more relevant if primary targets prove difficult to secure.

Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott is said to favour a move to Arsenal this summer. According to reports, Manchester United have pulled out of the race after valuing the England Under-21 international at £40million, significantly below the Cherries’ £70million-plus valuation.
Arsenal made an enquiry for Scott last month that was unsuccessful, but speculation has continued after the player rejected a new contract at Bournemouth. The Gunners view him as one of the leading names on their midfield wishlist alongside Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes.
Scott is reportedly concerned about the amount of game time he would receive under Mikel Arteta. Arsenal already possess several options in central areas, including Declan Rice, Mikel Merino, Martin Zubimendi and Myles Lewis-Skelly. Any new arrival would need to compete for a starting place.

Should the pursuit of Guimaraes prove unsuccessful, Scott could emerge as a strong alternative. The 22-year-old impressed last season with his work rate, defensive contributions and occasional goal threat, including a winner against Arsenal at the Emirates in April.
Bournemouth remain determined to keep their key young talents or extract maximum value. Arsenal’s interest is genuine, yet the gap in valuation and the player’s own reservations about minutes could complicate any deal. Direct talks over Guimaraes are ongoing, and that remains the priority for now.
Supporters will watch both situations closely. Scott’s preference for the Premier League champions is an encouraging sign, but several obstacles still stand in the way. The coming weeks will determine whether Arsenal can find a way to make a move work or whether they continue to focus on their primary midfield target.
