Jurgen Klopp has been announced as Germany’s new head coach, marking his return to management after a two-year break.
Klopp has signed a four-year contract with Germany, beginning August 15, which will see the 59-year-old take charge through the 2028 Euros and 2030 World Cup.
He takes over from Julian Nagelsmann following his resignation after Germany’s early World Cup elimination, losing in the round of 32 by Paraguay on penalties.
Klopp and his long-term agent, Marc Kosicke, met with German officials in New York during his TV obligations while the tournament was ongoing to discuss details of the agreement.
The former Liverpool manager was under contract at Red Bull as their global head of football, and an agreement was struck for his early exit after talks with managing director Oliver Mintzlaff.

Klopp’s tenure as Germany’s head coach is now underway, with former Liverpool assistants Pepijn Lijnders and Peter Krawietz joining his staff.
Lijnders left Man City in the wake of Pep Guardiola’s exit this summer, while Krawietz has kept a low profile since leaving Anfield, with the exception of a short-term role at RB Leipzig.
Sven Bender, who played 181 games under Klopp during his time at Borussia Dortmund, has also been named an assistant coach.
Klopp’s first game in charge will be in the UEFA Nations League against the Netherlands this September, which will likely see him come up against Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch and Cody Gakpo.

It will mark 858 days from his last appearance as a head coach, when he bid farewell to Liverpool against Wolves in 2024.
Florian Wirtz, meanwhile, will have the opportunity to work under the 59-year-old for the first time, which will excite Liverpool officials as they look to extract the German’s full potential.
