A host of English clubs have been linked with Jonathan Rowe, who has now attracted interest from Everton and Manchester United.
The Englishman joined Bologna from Marseille last summer. The move came after he had a physical altercation with Adrien Rabiot, with the pair being transfer listed.
It took a while for him to settle at Bologna. However, he thrived in the second half of the campaign. The winger finished with 13 goal contributions in all competitions, with six of those coming in the Europa League.
Sport Witness have regularly covered Aston Villa’s interest in Rowe. There have been strong suggestions he would be keen on a return to England, having done well at Norwich City in the past.
Now, Everton and Manchester United are in the picture.
Situation heating up
Today’s Corriere di Bologna reports Rowe and Jhon Lucumi are candidates to leave the club. The Rossoblu failed to qualify for Europe, which means they need sales to finance possible incomings for new manager Domenico Tedesco.
‘New English sirens’ are brewing for Rowe. The newspaper report Everton as an interested party but Manchester United, ‘more importantly’, are also in the race.
This is a sign the Red Devils would have a better chance of landing the ex-Canaries star. Their qualification for the Champions League is key to that, with Rowe having played in the competition at Marseille.
A valuation of around €40m has previously been reported, with Bologna having paid €19.5m in 2025.

Disciplinary concerns around Rowe have emerged once again. During Bologna’s recent 4-0 loss to Arminia Bielefeld, he was involved in a scrap with an opposition player and almost ended up heat-butting him too.
That is perhaps why the Italian side are in a rush to part ways with him. It would allow them to cash in at the right time after his form in the second half of last season.
This should concern both Everton and Manchester United. Besides, he still needs to prove his consistency over a longer term. This was also true at Marseille, where he scored three times in Ligue 1.
