Liverpool are reportedly interested in completing the signing of Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Junior in the summer of 2027, having asked about his availability.
The Brazilian is one of the leading footballers of his generation, becoming an elite attacker for Madrid and Brazil, with few players better in the world currently.
Speaking on his YouTube channel [via TEAMtalk], journalist Ramon Alvarez de Mon talked up Liverpool’s interest in Vinicius, looking to snap him up on a stunning free transfer next summer after inquiring about him:
“Real Madrid are interested in renewing Vinicius’s contract, and Vinicius is interested in staying at Real Madrid. These are the official positions, but at the moment, I’m not aware that the differences between the two sides have been resolved.
“Unless Vinicius’s side sees an increase in Real Madrid’s leverage, meaning a real rapprochement with Vinicius’s position, they don’t see the need to meet. Vinicius’s people, naturally, have to do their job… to find out what the position would be of other clubs that could potentially sign Vinicius, whether in 2026 or 2027.
“We’re mainly talking about Premier League teams. In those initial enquiries, there was one club that clearly responded positively to their interest in Vinicius, but the numbers worked out for 2027. That club is Liverpool.
“If Vinicius becomes a free agent in 2027, not only will the Premier League be paying attention, but I imagine Bayern Munich and PSG will also be watching closely. I’m increasingly convinced that a renewal this summer is unlikely.
“Of course, how comfortable or uncomfortable Vinicius feels with Mourinho, how the Brazilian performs, how the team functions, and so on, could be very important.”
Could Liverpool really sign Vinicius Junior in 2027?
The idea of Vinicius in a Liverpool shirt is a mouthwatering prospect, given his status as an elite forward, being described as “world-class” by former Liverpool man Trent Alexander-Arnold, and scoring 128 goals and registering 98 assists in 375 appearances for Madrid to date.
The fact that the 26-year-old would be available on a free transfer would significantly ease the financial aspect of the move for the Reds, but there would be a huge auction for his signature.
It would be one of Liverpool’s biggest statement signings of all time, and while Vinicius’ ego could be a potential issue, Andoni Iraola would no doubt love to have him in his squad.
That said, it is still hard to see the Reds actually signing him, with his wage demands likely to be through the roof, and it is easier to envisage him either staying at Madrid or moving to a club that can pay him more.
