Manchester City add Chelsea forward to winger transfer targets shortlist

Enzo Maresca continues to look towards his former employers for potential recruits at Manchester City this summer.

With Savinho expected to depart for Tottenham at some stage, City have added Pedro Neto to their list of possible replacements.

The Portuguese forward joins Malo Gusto at Stamford Bridge in being admired by officials at the Etihad Stadium.

Enzo Maresca and Manchester City have placed Chelsea’s Pedro Neto on their shortlist of potential winger targets this summer, according to a new report.

The Italian tactician engaged in his first set of media duties as Manchester City manager on Friday afternoon, during which he hinted at further changes to his first-team set-up throughout the course of the ongoing summer transfer window.

That plan follows the club’s successful pursuit of Nottingham Forest and England international midfielder Elliot Anderson, formally presented as an Etihad Stadium star earlier this week in a £116 million agreement whilst signing a five-year contract in the process.

“I think there is always something to do, because it’s something we want [to do] but [also] because the dynamic of the transfer window,” Maresca told reporters on Friday when asked for an assessment of his first-team squad options.

He continued, “There are probably a few things to do, but we are in the process to do that.”

One change that is still expected to take place despite a delay in transfer negotiations is Savinho’s move to Tottenham, with the Brazilian a primary target for Roberto De Zerbi and his colleagues at the North London club.

Now, according to a new report from MailSport, Chelsea and Portugal international winger Pedro Neto is believed to be among the names on Manchester City’s transfer radar as they formulate a list of potential winger targets this summer.

Elsewhere, it is further suggested that Hugo Viana and recruitment bosses at City have also looked at Paris Saint-Germain’s Ibrahim Mbaye as well as RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande, among other names.

The search for reinforcement out wide comes as Tottenham continue to work towards agreeing a deal for Savinho, although Enzo Maresca’s colleagues want a replacement for the Brazilian lined up.

City are known to have held an interest in Neto prior to him joining Chelsea from Wolves, and the Etihad Stadium’s new manager Enzo Maresca had struck up a ‘good rapport’ with the player during their time together at Stamford Bridge.

This is a developing story. More to follow.
