£70m Premier League star wants to join Arsenal with Bruno Guimaraes after bid made - report

Arsenal are hoping to wrap up the signing of Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, but he isn't the only Premier League star who wants to make the move to the Emirates.

While major work wasn't required on Arsenal's squad following a stunning season that saw them win the Premier League and come within a penalty shootout of winning the Champions League, Mikel Arteta will be well aware that they cannot afford to stand still if they want to remain as one of the elite teams in European football.

The Gunners have identified positions they want to strengthen but progress had been slow up until the confirmed signing of Christos Tzolis in recent days, with the only arrivals before that being Piero Hincapie completing a permanent move to the Emirates, and goalkeeper Illan Meslier joining on a free transfer after he left Leeds United.

The north London outfit had identified Morgan Rogers as their top target for the left-sided attacking position, but the England international has joined London rivals Chelsea in a £117m deal instead, meaning Arteta and Co have been forced to look at alternative options.

Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez remains a dream target but a deal to prise him away from the La Liga giants is difficult, with the club currently focusing on trying to agree a deal with Newcastle to sign their captain Guimaraes.

Alex Scott Wants to Join Arsenal

Chelsea have already had a £64m bid rejected for in-demand Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott this summer, with the England international attracting interest from the Blues, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and the Gunners.

According to the Daily Star, Arsenal have a clear path to pursue a deal for the £70m-rated Englishman, with United dropping out of the race due to his price tag.

Scott is expected to decide his future in the next couple of weeks having recently rejected a contract extension on the south coast, with the report claiming that he prefers a switch to the Emirates, even though there are concerns over his playing time if he did join the English champions.

Arsenal Ready to Pay £85m to Sign Top Winger

Yan Diomandevia Reuters

Having missed out on Rogers, Arsenal have had to go back to the drawing board in order to land the high-profile attacker Arteta really wants this summer.

Liverpool had been showing strong interest in buying Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig to replace Mohamed Salah earlier in the summer, however the teenage sensation decided he wanted to join Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain instead.

However, PSG are still yet to reach a breakthrough with the Bundesliga outfit to bring the Ivory Coast international to the Parc des Princes, which leaves the doors open for other clubs.

Arsenal are said to be willing to pay more than €100m (£85m) to sign the winger, who announced himself on the global stage at the 2026 World Cup following a stunning breakthrough campaign for Leipzig.

Diomande still appears more likely to join PSG, but English clubs like the Gunners seemingly aren't ready to give up yet on a winger who looks to have a huge future ahead of him.
