Wales international Lewis Koumas says he will be giving everything to impress Andoni Iraola this summer, with Liverpool in need of more options in forward areas this summer

Liverpool forward Lewis Koumas, who has spent some time on loan in the Championship with Stoke, Birmingham and Hull, is keen to impress Andoni Iraola this summer.
And given the lack of forward options at the moment, he will get a chance. As things stand, with Hugo Ekitike set to be sidelined for a number of months yet, Alexander Isak is the only senior number nine.
As a result, Koumas might sense there is a chance to lay down a marker. Fellow young talent Jayden Danns is currently injured, while Will Wright is another who could step up and attempt to fill the void.
"I think I'm a player that the gaffer could sort of like, with the way I press and the energy I can give to the team," Koumas told club media. "I'm always looking to impress, so I’ll just see where it takes me."
Koumas was most recently out on loan at Hull, who he helped to promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs. He is also a Wales international and has already scored for Liverpool when Jurgen Klopp was in charge.
"They’re really good sessions, positive sessions," Koumas said of the early work under Iraola, the man who he will need to impress to get a chance at Anfield.

"We’re all just trying to adapt to the new gaffer and how he wants to play. We’re all looking forward to getting to know him more.
"I took a lot (from being at Hull). It was a really tough experience to start with but it ended up turning into a really good one. I learned a lot from it and obviously we got promoted, which is a massive achievement. So, yeah, it was a great season in the end.
"It was unbelievable (to play in a play-off final). When Oli [McBurnie] put it over the line, it was just an unbelievable moment for the club, and now they’re in the Premier League."
While at Hull, Koumas scored three times in 19 appearances. He was mainly used as a substitute, coming on either down the left flank or through the center.

Asked for his aims this coming season, he added: "To play for Liverpool in the Premier League, of course.
"But if that’s not how it ends up going, I’m always looking to develop and always looking to improve my game. We’ll just see what happens and see where it takes me."
Liverpool.com says: Every young talent away on the pre-season tour should be looking to make the most of the opportunity. There will be no shortage of loan interest once again should Koumas decide that is the best next step.
