Sverre Nypan has suggested that his move to Manchester City may have been influenced by the transfer fee the Premier League club were willing to pay Rosenborg for his signature.
City made Nypan the most expensive player ever sold by the Norwegian league when they signed him from Rosenborg for £12.5 million around a year ago. Since completing the transfer, the midfielder has been working to establish himself, although he is still waiting for a sustained opportunity at the club.
Nypan reflects on Manchester City transfer
Shortly after completing the move, Nypan joined Middlesbrough on loan in search of regular first-team football. However, he struggled for playing time during his spell there, leading Man City to recall him so that he could finish the season with the club.
Despite returning to the Etihad Stadium, Nypan was unable to break into the team as City competed with Arsenal for the league title. He is now set to spend this season on loan at Lommel in Belgium, where he is expected to receive more consistent playing time before returning to Manchester City.

We struggled a little, and everyone said that if they sell me for a high price, it will help a lot. I felt like I had a responsibility”
