Statistically, the kid is an absolute monster. The glaring flaw in Mikel Arteta’s strategy

Losing Morgan Rogers to Chelsea for £117m left a massive hole in North London, no doubt about it. But look at the squad depth. The position Arsenal desperately need to reinforce is the left wing. Not the right.
Diomande does his best work on the right flank. Bukayo Saka owns that right-wing slot. He isn’t being dropped, nor is he leaving. Add Noni Madueke into the mix as a solid backup, and that side of the pitch is locked down. Forcing Diomande onto the left wing to justify spending £85m-plus makes very little tactical sense. It feels like square pegs in round holes.
Nico Williams keeps being mentioned in connection with the Emirates. Julian Alvarez and Bradley Barcola can both wreak havoc from the left, and both remain firmly on Arsenal’s radar. Any of those targets would fix the actual problem instead of creating a brand-new headache for the coaching staff.

Buying a right winger when your left side is thin makes no sense. Paying over the odds for someone who already has eyes for PSG makes even less sense. Arsenal would have to break their own financial discipline to pull this off. Unless the French champions completely abandon the chase, expect Arsenal to step back and focus their attention elsewhere. This feels like an exploratory enquiry rather than a serious pursuit.
