Real Madrid has entered the race to sign Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig this summer, with PSG — supposedly his favored destination — yet to agree a deal with the Bundesliga side.

Liverpool, it is understood, was willing to table a package worth a total of €100 million ($115 million/£85 million) for Diomande. But it then emerged that he would rather sign for Luis Enrique's European champions.

Now, though, with no progress seemingly having been made on a move to Paris for Diomande, Real Madrid has sensed an opportunity. Also keen on Manchester City's Rodri, the Bernabeu outfit wants another winger too.

According to The Athletic, Diomande is on the radar of Jose Mourinho, who is looking to bolster his roster. Last season, Real Madrid failed to win La Liga for a second campaign in a row.

Diomande starred at the World Cup for the Ivory Coast. His future was to be determined when his country exited the tournament, but that was now a couple of weeks ago.

Arsenal is also said to have inquired about Diomande, while if PSG does not sign the 19-year-old, it could mean Enrique being even more determined to keep hold of Bradley Barcola.

"I don’t think they should have been looking at Diomande for the money they were talking about anyway," former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy told BetWright earlier this month.

"He is a super talent, but that’s all he is: a talent. He’s a prospect.

"Paying over the odds for a player based on potential, I’m not sure over £100M for a player who hasn’t got a body of work that justifies that money was the right way to go. In a way, it might be a blessing.

"Barcola would be less expensive and obviously maybe surplus to requirements with the signings PSG are making. We’ve seen in the Champions League for the last couple of years now the impact he can have on games, so it’s a less risky signing."

Real Madrid already has the likes of Vinicius Jr and Kylian Mbappe in wide areas. PSG has Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Desire Doue, and Ousmane Dembele.

At Liverpool, the player would have the clearest route to minutes after the departure of Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian is yet to announce his next move after departing Anfield a year before his contract expired.

Liverpool.com says: Diomande is clearly heading for the top. He would have been ideal for Liverpool this summer, but if he isn't sure on making the move, then it is best avoided by all parties.
