FC Porto make transfer stance clear on winger amid Liverpool interest

Liverpool remain in the market for a long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah.

Liverpool continue to explore options to strengthen their attack this summer, with new head coach Andoni Iraola expected to step up the club’s transfer activity in the coming weeks as he shapes his squad.

The Reds have already completed the signings of Jeremy Jacquet and Victor Munoz, but further reinforcements are expected. While Munoz is regarded as one of Spain’s brightest young talents, he is unlikely to be an immediate starter.

Liverpool remain in the market for a long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah, and another winger has emerged on their shortlist.

According to Fussballdaten, Liverpool are among several clubs monitoring FC Porto winger Oskar Pietuszewski. The 18-year-old has enjoyed a rapid rise since joining the Portuguese champions for around £6million in January, contributing three goals and four assists in 16 league games.

Porto have since rewarded the Poland international with a new contract until 2031, underlining their determination to keep hold of one of their brightest prospects.

The report claims Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle United, Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid are also tracking Pietuszewski, who has already earned four senior caps for Poland.

Borussia Dortmund are believed to be leading the race, but Porto have no intention of selling this summer. The Portuguese club are expected to demand the full value of the winger’s €60million (£51.9million) release clause, while Dortmund are preparing an offer of just under £30million.

With FC Porto standing firm on their valuation, Dortmund are unlikely to meet the asking price and could instead wait for a future opportunity.

Although several Premier League clubs are monitoring Pietuszewski, a fee of more than £50million would represent a significant investment for a player who has only recently established himself at the top level.

Pietuszewski racked up 49 appearances in all competitions for Porto last season, scoring six goals and providing six assists as the club secured their 31st Portuguese league title.
