In an interview with Eric Nehm of The Athletic, Tyler Herro was enthusiastic about getting a “fresh start” with his hometown Bucks. The one-time All-Star shooting guard was sent to Milwaukee from Miami as part of the trade that saw Giannis Antetokounmpo land with the Heat.
“I’m happy where I’m at now,” Herro said. “If I literally had to pick another team in the league to play for, it would be Milwaukee. I’m super excited to be in Milwaukee. Fresh start for everyone — the organization, myself — and we’re really gonna hit it home.”
There were rumors that other teams — including Detroit — were interested in Herro in the lead-up to the blockbuster deal. The 26-year-old is on an expiring $33MM contract and theoretically could be on the move again at some point ahead of possible 2027 free agency, Nehm notes.
“I think now that things are kind of settling down, I’m hoping I’m staying here,” Herro told The Athletic. “That’s kind of the consensus I’m getting right now, but I’m excited to just be here. If it’s for two months, two years, whatever it is, I’m just excited to be here.
“I see the potential. I see the promise that we have as a group. As an organization, with the young guys with a fresh start, I think we’re going to be better than people anticipate. We got a great mix of vets and guys that have been proven in this league, and then we got guys who are hungry, motivated with a chip on their shoulder, that want to compete and prove something. So, we’re gonna be good.”

On the Greek AnasTea The Podcast (YouTube link), Antetokounmpo reiterated his love for Milwaukee and said he hopes to finish his career with the Bucks, as JR Radcliffe of The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel relays. “I hope when this chapter with Miami ends – which I don’t know when it will end, but I’m sure it will end one day, I don’t know how many years I’ll be there – I hope to go back to Milwaukee, if they’ll have me,” Antetokounmpo said in translated comments.
Rogers Communications, the Canadian communications/media giant that previously owned 75% of Maple Leafs Sport & Entertainment, reached a deal earlier this month to assume full control of the Raptors‘ parent company by the end of 2026. During an earnings call on Wednesday, Rogers CFO Glenn Brandt said the company plans to sell a minority stake in MLSE at some point in the first half of 2027, tweets Mike Vorkunov of The Athletic. That would transpire after Rogers assumes 100% control of MLSE.
Wizards wings AJ Dybantsa, Will Riley and Tre Johnson all showed signs of progress at Summer League, writes Josh Robbins of The Athletic. It was a small sample size, but all three players were among the leading scorers in Las Vegas. Summer League head coach T.J. Sorrentine was particularly pleased with Riley’s defense, according to Robbins. “He’s really good,” Sorrentine said of last year’s 21st overall pick. “I was actually happy with how hard he competed defensively, too. He used his physicality, his new strength, had his hands on guys, took challenges on. And then the offense is what it is. I say this a lot: He’s just an offensive sponge. He just finds a way to put the ball in the basket. His shooting obviously showed he’s putting a lot of time into his 3-point shot. So, I was proud that that showed.”
