With the clock ticking, Liverpool still has plenty of work to get through this summer when it comes to transfers. As Andoni Iraola said last week, more depth is required.

"There are obvious situations that we know where we need to sign players," the new head coach said during a press conference in Chicago. "A winger, for example — we definitely need to sign a winger."

He went on to admit that Liverpool is "very thin right now" when it comes to defensive cover. With that in mind, here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today.

Bradley Barcola (PSG)

According to BILD's Christian Falk, if Bayern Munich has to sell Michael Olise, which it is so far insistent that it won't, then the Bundesliga champion will go for Bradley Barcola as a replacement.

Liverpool, of course, could be a landing spot for Barcola should he leave. Real Madrid would like to sign Olise, but the former Crystal Palace man would have a world-record transfer fee attached if he can be prised from Munich.

Barcola said at the start of the month that his future would be resolved after the World Cup. So far, though, there has been no update on what might happen with either him or Yan Diomande.

Liverpool needs more options in wide areas. Barcola appears to be the best of the options who will realistically be on the market this summer, even though PSG ultimately would rather keep him.

Liverpool.com says: Something will surely have to give in the next couple of weeks when it comes to Barcola's situation. The Reds would be the perfect place for him to get more minutes at a very high level.

Vinicius Jr (Real Madrid)

Vinicius Jr. has been tipped for a sensational free transfer to Liverpool in 2027 amid ongoing debates in Spain about whether the Brazilian superstar will sign a new contract.

Several reports over the last few months have suggested that there is an impasse over a renewal at the Bernabeu. Now, it is claimed that the 26-year-old would be keen on experiencing the Premier League should he depart.

The Spanish journalist Ramon Alvarez de Mon, via Defensa Central, says Liverpool is an option for Vinicius, but only if he runs his contract down rather than a transfer fee being required.

There have been plenty of examples of Real Madrid nabbing the best stars for free. It paid a small sum to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold a few weeks before his deal expired, before snapping up Ibrahima Konate this summer.

Liverpool.com says: Vinicius joining Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak in attack is a mouthwatering prospect. If he does leave Real Madrid, England would be the logical next destination.
