Arsenal have been told why they could be a suitable destination for Atletico Madrid star Julian Alvarez, with the Gunners being able to “guarantee” a replacement for the La Liga outfit.
The Gunners have been heavily linked with a move for Alvarez throughout the summer transfer window, although the speculation ahs quietened down over the last few weeks.
Alvarez recently helped Argentina reach the World Cup final and will now be on his summer break before returning to club duties with Atletico.
The former Manchester City star has also been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona this summer, and now there has been a fresh update about his future at the Metropolitano Stadium.
Journalist Miguel Martín Talavera has claimed that Arsenal are the most likely destination for Alvarez in the unlikely event that Atletico were to sanction the sale of their star player.
The report also claims that a deal with Arsenal would also see Atletico guaranteed to have a replacement lined up with Viktor Gyokeres.
It has been claimed that Atletico would expect Arsenal to include Gyokeres plus a fee in a deal to sign Alvarez, should the La Liga outfit give the green light for a transfer to happen.
"It's the only roadmap that can be considered at Atletico de Madrid," Talavera is quoted as telling Spanish outlet Cadena SER.
"The first thing Atletico Madrid is clear about is that they want Julian, but if, when he comes to us, they have a mature conversation and he absolutely wants to leave, he's obviously not going to Barcelona.

“They're not going to strengthen a direct rival, especially given what Atletico Madrid perceives as Barca's behaviour this year, pursuing and pressuring the player.

“If the final decision is that he absolutely has to leave, other options will be considered, and the strongest one is Arsenal, because it also guarantees the possibility of having an immediate replacement, which would be the Swede [Viktor] Gyokeres, in addition to a substantial sum of money.”
Arsenal only signed Gyokeres last summer from Sporting Lisbon in a deal worth €73.5million (£62.7million) including add-ons, and the striker went on to score 21 goals across his debut season for the Gunners.
