Real Madrid have reportedly entered the race to sign RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, adding fresh competition for Arsenal in the pursuit of one of Europe’s most highly-rated young attackers.
According to The Athletic, the Spanish giants have opened talks with Leipzig over a potential deal for the 19-year-old, who has attracted interest from several elite clubs following an outstanding breakthrough campaign.
Arsenal have also explored a move for the Ivory Coast international this summer as Mikel Arteta continues to strengthen his attacking options.
The Gunners have been monitoring Diomande’s development for some time, with his pace, dribbling ability and versatility making him an attractive long-term target.
However, Real Madrid’s emergence in the race could complicate Arsenal’s hopes of securing his signature.
The report states that Paris Saint-Germain remain interested in Diomande and that the player had previously viewed the European champions as his preferred destination.
Even so, PSG are yet to meet Leipzig’s valuation, leaving the door open for rival clubs.
Liverpool have also been linked with the teenager during the current transfer window, underlining the growing demand for one of the Bundesliga’s brightest prospects.
Leipzig, meanwhile, have made their position clear.
Sporting director Marcel Schafer recently insisted the German club’s intention is for Diomande to remain at the Red Bull Arena beyond this summer despite mounting interest from across Europe.
The winger is under contract until 2030, placing Leipzig in a strong negotiating position should they decide to entertain offers.
Diomande has enjoyed a remarkable rise over the past two years.
After progressing from DME Academy in the United States to Leganes, he earned a move to Leipzig, where he established himself as one of the Bundesliga’s most exciting young attackers during his first full season.
He finished the campaign with 12 goals and nine assists in 33 league appearances as Leipzig secured Champions League qualification.
Diomande also impressed on the international stage, featuring in every match as Ivory Coast reached the knockout rounds of the 2026 World Cup before being eliminated by Norway.
Real Madrid’s interest is understood to form part of their long-term planning on the right flank despite Brahim Diaz’s desire to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu.
For Arsenal, the situation is one to watch closely.
Arteta has already added attacking quality to his squad in recent windows, but the club continue to target elite young talent capable of developing into future stars.
Whether the Gunners decide to accelerate their interest could now depend on how aggressively Real Madrid pursue a player who is rapidly becoming one of the most sought-after wingers in European football.
