Liverpool target Yan Diomande has been the subject of an £85.4m bid from Real Madrid, according to a big claim from renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The 19-year-old was seen as the Reds’ No.1 wide option earlier this summer, but Ben Jacobs discussed alternatives because a move to Paris Saint-Germain felt more likely:
“As I revealed, three other targets are Mathias Fernandez Pardo, who’s also at the World Cup, Said El Mala, who has had other Premier League interest this window, and Brighton’s Yankuba Mintah. So come what may, Liverpool are going to add another attacker, and Yan Diamonde remains their leading target. I think it’s fair to say they’re actively working on those alternatives simply because it gives you leverage in the market as well.”
But now, writing on X on Friday, Romano says Madrid have offered £85.4m for RB Leipzig star Diomande, with the Bundesliga club rejecting their advances:
“Real Madrid sent €100m official bid to RB Leipzig this week: €90m plus €10m add-ons proposal on the table. RB Leipzig have rejected as they ask for more than €100m to let Diomandé leave. Real remain in talks. PSG, in talks for weeks but no agreement yet with RB.”
Are Liverpool’s hopes of signing Yan Diomande over?
Unfortunately for Liverpool, they feel well down the pecking order when it comes to suitors for Diomande this summer, with Madrid and PSG both seemingly ahead of them.
The Reds shouldn’t give up the fight, however, considering what a special young attacking talent the Ivory Coast star is, with Gary Neville hailing him during the 2026 World Cup, saying:
“He’s one of the most experienced right-backs in the world, and he’s toiling in this first half. He looks afraid of [Yan Diomande]. He is, and look, he’s a 19-year-old kid. They’ve had 56 per cent of their attacks down that side, which is massive. I’ve been there as an ageing right-back when you’ve got a young kid who’s fearless, and it’s not pleasant.”
Now, it’s a case of Liverpool hopefully getting a deal for PSG’s Bradley Barcola over the line instead, and potentially bringing in another winger on top of that.
