Viktor Gyokeres## Arsenal are continuing their preparations for the upcoming Premier League season

08:33, 25 Jul 2026

Viktor Gyokeres is using his time away from Arsenal to train hard for the upcoming season.

The striker was spotted at the Jose Martins Vieira Municipal stadium in Portugal working on his shooting. Images were shared on social media by Apex Football Performance, a company specialising in training elite athletes.

Gyokeres was given time off from club training after Sweden exited the World Cup to France at the round-of-32. The forward has sent a clear message to Mikel Arteta that he is more than prepared to return to the Gunners.

In the video posted by Apex, who also trains the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes, Gyokeres can be seen curling strikes in from distance. The caption highlighted the main credentials the 28-year-old was focused on, as it read: "Oriented first touch, non-dominant foot finish. Elite habits, elite standard. Same game, different level."

This news comes amid rumours that the Sweden international is leaving north London for Atletico Madrid. Last season, Gyokeres found the net 21 times in 55 games and also secured the Premier League title.

His efforts have caught the eye of potential suitors, including the La Liga giants. Arsenal would let the ex-Sporting CP star join the Spanish giants if it meant they could sign Julian Alvarez.

It is said that Gyokeres would be included in a player-plus-cash offer for the Argentina international, who has 66 goal contributions in 106 matches for Atletico. However, the Swede's dedication to training is a sign that he can step up and push for his place in Arteta's ranks.
