The Pistons and Timberwolves reportedly checked on Kyrie Irving's trade availability, but the Mavericks quickly shut them down and made it clear he is not on the trade block.
The Dallas Mavericks reportedly received early offseason calls on Kyrie Irving, but the veteran guard was never made available in trade talks.

According to ClutchPoints' Brett Siegel on the Clutch Scoops podcast, the Detroit Pistons and Minnesota Timberwolves were among the teams that checked on Irving's availability near the start of free agency.
However, Dallas quickly made it clear that Irving was not on the trade block.
"There's been no trade talks over the last month regarding Kyrie Irving," Siegel said on Clutch Scoops. "Teams reached out near the start of free agency to inquire about his availability."
Mavericks made Kyrie stance clear
Per Siegel, the calls came when teams were trying to understand the Mavericks' long-term direction and whether Irving could potentially be obtained.
"That's when teams were like, 'Hey, what does the future look like with Kyrie? Is he obtainable?'" Siegel said.
The Pistons and Timberwolves were specifically named among the teams that contacted Dallas.
"The teams that we know that reached out: the Detroit Pistons were a team that reached out, we know the Minnesota Timberwolves reached out," Siegel added. "I'm sure there's a few other teams mixed in there that tried to inquire about Kyrie Irving."
Still, the Mavericks did not show any interest in opening negotiations.
"The message to them was Kyrie's not available, and the Mavericks are not actively looking to trade him," Siegel said. "They have not put him on the trade block for teams to offer packages."

No offers were made for Irving
Siegel also clarified that the conversations did not develop into actual trade offers.
"There's been no offers to this point," he said. "It's just teams reaching out saying, 'Hey, is he available?' and the Mavericks have said no."
That update shuts down the idea that Irving has been actively discussed in serious trade scenarios this offseason.
The 33-year-old guard remains one of the NBA's most proven offensive stars. During the 2024-25 regular season, Irving averaged 24.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.6 assists for Dallas before suffering a torn ACL in March.
For his NBA career, Irving has averaged 23.7 points, 5.6 assists, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.3 steals across 779 games.
