Burnley head coach Nicky Hayen is hopeful that striker Zian Flemming will stay at the club this season.
Burnley striker Zian Flemming remains committed to the project at Turf Moor, according to head coach Nicky Hayen.
The talisman has been linked with several Premier League sides since the end of the 2025/26 campaign. Hayen is aware that every player has their price, and could not promise that Flemming would stay and lead the line in the Championship.
When asked if the player would be likely to stay at Burnley, the new boss told the Burnley Express: “We hope so.
“Zian is also someone like Tino [Florentino Luis], he’s working 100 per cent on the pitch. Zian is not a guy who’s going to say like: ‘I want to leave Burnley’. He’s working really hard.
Zian Flemming can leave Burnley for ‘right price’
“Of course he wants to take the next step in his career, but I think every player has a price. When the right price is paid by a Premier League club, for example, then he can go.”
Burnley paid £7 million to sign Flemming from Millwall in 2025 after a loan move from London was made permanent. The striker impressed in the Premier League last season, scoring 11 goals in 29 top flight appearances.
The forward has been outspoken about his desire to remain in the Premier League, having waited until the age of 27 years old to reach the level.
Flemming did not feature for Burnley during the recent US pre-season tour, but that was not due to transfer speculation. The player was given extra time off having recently become a father.
Flemming has since returned to Gawthorpe and trained as usual ahead of this weekend’s friendly against Ajax. Speaking to Dutch outlet Voetbal International this summer, Flemming said: “The Premier League has left me wanting more. I would like to play there for years to come.”
The Burnley Express recently claimed that, while supporters would loathe to see the player leave, few would hold it against Flemming after his success last season.
While his pre-season absence was explained, the outlet believes that it has been ‘telling’ that the striker had been granted so much time away.
Leeds United and Everton send Flemming enquiries
The Dutchman had found himself at the centre of transfer speculation in May, but the frequency of those reports has decreased as the summer has gone on.
Newly promoted duo Ipswich Town and Coventry City had both been linked. Everton and Leeds United were both said to have approached Burnley over a transfer, with Brentford also interested.
All of those clubs will have had ears pricked by Hayen’s admission that, while the player won’t force a move, he is certainly available for the right price.
Burnley currently have Lyle Foster, Zeki Amdouni and Armando Broja as alternative options up front.
