Manchester City have verbally indicated that they are willing to make a €100m bid to sign Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig this summer.
Journalist Phillipp Hinze reports that Manchester City remains in the race for the 19-year-old despite Real Madrid’s push to sign him.
Verbal offer from Manchester City
According to the German journalist, Manchester City have ‘verbally indicated’ their willingness to make a €100m bid for the Leipzig winger.
No formal offer has been submitted as yet, though. Their commitment is firmly in the form of a ‘clear verbal commitment’ to do so. That has not proven to be enough so far, despite several talks with Leipzig regarding the youngster.
Unlike Manchester City, Liverpool and Real Madrid have both made official bids of €100m. Leipzig have rejected both. As things stand, Paris Saint-Germain, his preferred destination, have not submitted an offer.
Manchester City, for now, are monitoring the situation. Whether they now take a step forward and submit a formal bid, remains to be seen. The Ivorian has multiple offers on the table but not a formal one from the Etihad.
Long-term interest
Their interest in the winger goes back more than a year, though. They have long been credited as being among his extensive list of suitors.
Indeed, this week Sport Witness covered a report explaining that Manchester City have signalled a willingness to spend a nine-figure fee on the Leipzig winger this summer.
Hinze now backs up that information. But he now insists that Manchester City’s willingness has only been in terms of verbal agreements. They are yet to put any physical bids or money on the table at this moment in time.
Of course, there is plenty of opportunity for that to change. Perhaps with Real Madrid seemingly pushing to get a deal done, that will change their stance on signing Diomande this summer.
