David Ornstein has just revealed the surprising development.
Liverpool’s transfer window has not quite unfolded as many supporters expected.
While the Reds have been linked with several of Europe’s brightest attacking talents, including RB Leipzig youngster Yan Diomande, concrete movement has been relatively limited compared to some of their Premier League rivals.

That could now become even more significant after a stunning new development involving one of world football’s biggest stars.
The Reds have largely kept their cards close to their chest in recent weeks, leading many supporters to wonder whether another major addition could still arrive before the window closes.
Links to attacking reinforcements have persisted throughout the summer, but Liverpool have so far resisted being drawn into the kind of headline-grabbing moves seen elsewhere in the Premier League.
One player whose future continues to attract attention is Vinicius Jr. The Brazilian remains a key figure at Real Madrid, but negotiations over a new long-term contract have yet to reach an agreement.
With no breakthrough made and his current deal edging closer to its final years, speculation surrounding Europe’s elite clubs has only intensified, despite Madrid’s determination to keep one of their biggest stars.
David Ornstein has now revealed a major twist, writing on X: “EXCL: Arsenal exploring move to sign Vinicius Junior from Real Madrid. #AFC interest early stage + clubs not yet in talks but idea approved at all levels. Much rests on contract process as no breakthrough yet & #RMFC do not want free exit.”
According to The Athletic, Arsenal’s interest has been approved internally, although discussions between the two clubs have not yet begun.
It would represent one of the most ambitious transfers of the summer should Arsenal press ahead, although Real Madrid are still hopeful of tying the Brazilian down to fresh terms.
The Spanish giants have no intention of allowing Vinicius to leave on a free transfer, making the contract negotiations a crucial factor in determining how the situation develops.
For Liverpool, the update serves as another reminder of how quickly the market can shift. The Reds may have gone quieter than many expected in recent weeks, but with their interest in players such as Diomande well established and opportunities capable of emerging unexpectedly, supporters will hope Richard Hughes still has a few surprises left before the transfer window closes.
