Manchester City
Paris Saint-Germain have contacted Manchester City over a potential deal for Rodri this summer.
RMC Sport report that the Champions League winners have contacted Manchester City to inquire about the potential terms of a deal for the 30-year-old.
According to the French outlet, signing a midfielder had not originally been on the agenda for PSG this summer. However, Rodri’s contract situation at Manchester City – it expires next summer – has changed their plans.
Those in charge of the Parisian giants believe that the Manchester City star represents an opportunity that they cannot pass up. Now they want to explore the opportunity as much as possible. They have already made enquiries to that effect.
They are the latest to join the developing battle for Rodri’s signature. Barcelona have entered the race as well. The Catalan club contacted Rodri’s camp following Frenkie de Jong’s injury.
They are now aiming to bolster their midfield this summer. Real Madrid are also in the picture and have an agreement in place with the midfielder.
Manchester City efforts
Manchester City, meanwhile, are doing everything possible to extend Rodri’s contract. The Cityzens want to convince the Spanish star to sign a new deal.
They are even prepared to keep him until his current contract runs out. That’s despite the risk of losing him on a free transfer and a potentially huge income from the World Cup’s best player.
The situation is developing into a highly contested battle. Currently, Real Madrid hold the upper hand in the battle. But they need to offload players in that position to finance the move. They are also now eyeing a big money move for RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande.
The entry of PSG into the race could complicate their efforts. For now, they have only made enquiries. But there is every opportunity for that to change, and quickly.
