Fresh from signing the Netherlands forward Crysencio Summerville in a transfer deal worth around $80 million (£60 million) from West Ham, Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal wants to bring in the former Liverpool winger Luis Diaz.
After a strong season in the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich, where he starred in a forward line that also includes Harry Kane and Michael Olise, Diaz is one of the most exciting players on one of the top teams in Europe.
But Al Hilal now has Diaz at the top of its list this summer, according to Gianluigi Longari. The Saudi side previously explored the idea of trying to tempt Kane to join too, but that move proved fruitless.
Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes is expected to move to Al Hilal at the end of the window. There has long been speculation that he could depart once he gets to the end of the first summer with Andoni Iraola at the helm.
Diaz scored 26 goals and set up another 23 in his first season with Bayern Munich. At the age of 29 and with only two years left on his contract at the time, though, Liverpool got a good price.
Rather than it being a mistake to let Diaz leave, it was an error not to adequately replace him, with Iraola's roster now looking very short of wide options even a year on.

Defending the sale, Liverpool legend Steve Nicol told ESPN:" I think you’re spending the money on Alexander Isak. You’re spending the money on Florian Wirtz.
"You have [Cody] Gakpo, and you’re getting offered what? Nearly 70 million for a guy who’s 29 years old. I mean hindsight’s dead easy isn’t it?
"I'm thinking now, Diaz doing what he’s doing not just for Liverpool last year but what he’s doing for Bayern.
"But at the time it seemed like a very sensible and great business deal to get 70 million for a 29-year-old when you already have Gakpo, and then you bring in Wirtz and Isak.

Liverpool.com says: Diaz leaving Bayern Munich after just one stellar year would be a big shame. It seems more likely he would wait and move to Saudi Arabia a little further down the line.
His goals and assists records last season were very impressive, but he wanted to leave Liverpool. The Reds got big money for him, but are now in even more desperate need of a replacement with Mohamed Salah gone too.
