Real Madrid's move to sign highly rated youngster Yan Diomande could have implications could potentially affect Liverpool's transfer fans.
Liverpool was reportedly prepared to submit a package worth €100 million (£85 million/$115 million) for Diomande, but the winger was believed to favour a move to Paris Saint-Germain under Luis Enrique instead.
However, with a switch to the European champions yet to materialize, Real Madrid has identified an opportunity to enter the race. The Spanish giants are also targeting Manchester City's Rodri as they look to strengthen their squad, while The Athletic reports that Diomande has emerged as a player of interest as the club seeks to add another winger to its ranks.
Arsenal has also made enquiries about Diomande, while PSG's failure to land the 19-year-old could strengthen Luis Enrique's resolve to keep hold of Bradley Barcola amid continued interest from the Reds in the French winger.
Liverpool has been widely linked with a move for the winger, who is entering the final two years of his contract at the Parc des Princes and faces an uncertain future in Paris.
The Reds are reportedly showing the strongest interest in the Champions League winner, stepping up their pursuit as they look to secure his signature before rival clubs enter the race. However, any potential move will depend on PSG’s valuation, which remains unclear, with the French champions currently keen to retain the player.
Despite that stance, no discussions over a new contract have taken place, and PSG’s efforts to bring in one or two additional attacking options could indicate that a summer departure remains a possibility.

PSG is reportedly closing in on the signing of Akliouche, with TeamTalk claiming the French champions are set to beat Liverpool to the highly rated winger despite the Reds’ interest emerging publicly this week.
Akliouche has already reached an agreement on personal terms with PSG and is believed to have made a move to Paris his preferred destination, even with Liverpool also making an approach. Negotiations between PSG and Monaco are ongoing, but confidence is growing that a deal can be completed this week.
Liverpool.com says: Real Madrid’s potential signing of Yan Diomande could have a major impact on Liverpool’s transfer plans. With the lack of urgency from the French side in securing Diomande, Luis Enrique could miss out altogether. while PSG’s push to keep Bradley Barcola and complete a deal for Maghnes Akliouche could further limit the Reds attacking options.
