Jeremy Jacquet has suffered a reported ‘minor injury’ ahead of Liverpool’s friendly against Sunderland, meaning he is missing the pre-season encounter.
Liverpool supporters will have to wait a little longer to see Jacquet in a red shirt after the French defender was left out of the squad to face Sunderland.
Reporter Lewis Steele said Jacquet had suffered a “minor problem,” while journalist James Pearce added that his exclusion from the team was a “precautionary measure and he is expected to resume training while on the US tour.”
Jacquet was spotted in training this week with strapping on his right knee, but it is unknown whether that is related to his reported ‘minor issue’.
Harvey Elliott also wore strapping in training but is fine to start for the Reds.
Jacquet missed the last 13 matches of the season for Rennes due to shoulder surgery at the beginning of March.
He is believed to have fully recovered from that issue, though, and has been in full team training since the start of pre-season.
The 21-year-old has five days to recover before Liverpool’s next pre-season friendly, against Wrexham in New York, before the Reds face Leeds in Chicago on August 2.

Ndiaye signed for Liverpool in January from Senegalese side Amitie FC impressing for Senegal at the U17 World Cup in November.
He was actually not on the plane with the rest of the squad when they flew to the US on Monday because of visa issues.
However, he was able to join up with the team later in the week once the problem had been resolved.
Ndiaye hasn’t yet featured for the first team since his £1 million signature, but he did sit on the bench for three games Premier League matches in May.
