Al Hilal are not finished yet.
Having already pulled off one of the more eye catching moves of the Saudi Pro League window, the Riyadh giants are now setting their sights considerably higher, with reports from Italy indicating they are chasing a genuine marquee addition to their attack.

According to Gianluigi Longari, the Saudi champions have moved quickly following the capture of Crysencio Summerville, and are now actively working on what would be a far bigger statement signing.
Longari describes the target, Luis Diaz, as Al Hilal’s “dream” for the attacking line, a phrase that reflects both the ambition and the difficulty of the pursuit.
Al Hilal’s willingness to think big is nothing new.
Over the past two years they have become the most aggressive operator in Saudi football, assembling a squad that already includes Karim Benzema alongside a collection of high profile European imports.
Their recruitment strategy has consistently prioritised name recognition and proven elite level pedigree, and the latest target fits that template precisely.
Luis Díaz, the Colombia international currently at Bayern Munich, is a name that will immediately resonate with Liverpool supporters.
Díaz spent three and a half seasons at Anfield after arriving from Porto in January 2022, quickly establishing himself as a fan favourite thanks to his relentless directness, willingness to take defenders on, and the sheer energy he brought to Liverpool’s front line.
He was part of the squad that won the FA Cup and League Cup in his first half season, reached a Champions League final, and later played a significant role in Liverpool’s Premier League title winning campaign under Arne Slot in 2024/25, contributing regularly from the left flank.
His departure to Bayern Munich in the summer of 2025 was met with genuine disappointment among sections of the Anfield support, particularly given the affection he had built up during a spell that included his emotional return to action following his father’s kidnapping in Colombia.
At Bayern, Díaz has continued to operate as a first team option in a squad packed with attacking talent, though competition for places in Bavaria remains fierce.
That context is presumably part of what has encouraged Al Hilal to test the water, alongside the Colombian’s age profile and the fact that Saudi clubs have shown they can move quickly and decisively when a target becomes available.
Whether Bayern would entertain any approach is an entirely different question.
The German champions invested heavily to bring Díaz to the club, and sporting director Christoph Freund has already publicly shut down speculation surrounding Michael Olise this summer, signalling a broader reluctance to weaken their attacking depth.
For now, this remains exactly what Longari described it as: a dream rather than a deal.
But Al Hilal have a recent history of turning dreams into announcements, and having already secured Summerville, they clearly believe there is room for one more headline arrival before the window closes.
