Liverpool fans were unable to access LFCTV to watch Saturday's preseason clash against Sunderland, as the site experienced issues ahead of kick-off in Nashville.
The U.S. tour is underway for Liverpool, with a game against Sunderland in Nashville before stops in New York and Chicago to face Wrexham and Leeds United, respectively. However, Saturday's game offered fans a first glimpse of new head coach Andoni Iraola ahead of a transitional season for the club.
It was a nightmare start for Liverpool as defender Joe Gomez suffered an injury inside 10 minutes and was withdrawn for 18-year-old Ifeanyi Ndukwe. Some fans hadn't logged into the LFC app by this point, as the streaming service had undergone issues before kick-off.
With preseason games shown on Liverpool's streaming service, the traffic increases drastically during the summer before returning to a steady pace for the remainder of the season. Fans are used to the site crashing and servers struggling to handle demand during the preseason.
Saturday appeared to be another example as fans were met with an error screen when attempting to stream Liverpool-Sunderland. Fans turned to social media for answers, with some venting frustration and others messaging complaints to the club directly.
"LFCTV login isn’t working and yall been collecting my money every month for at least the last 2 years, please get this thing resolved this is a critical moment," one fan wrote on X.
"How can LFCTV be down for the first preseason game? Surely they would have anticipated fans would want to watch the Premier League's most successful team," another added. "Fix your website so can watch through LFCTV!" A third wrote.
"Be nice if you could fix LFCTV lads would be much appreciated," one fan sarcastically wrote. "Death, Taxes and LFCTV Go not working properly during the preseason games. Truly the real footy is back," another joked.
One fan referenced the past, adding, "People getting mad at LFCTV every time we hit this period of the year is just amazing. It's almost like an unwritten rule that there have to be some issues with it."
Those who were able to access the stream saw young midfielder Kieran Morrison put Liverpool ahead after just 13 minutes. Morrison's goal was created by Harvey Elliott, who is looking to revive his Liverpool career after failing to impress former head coach Arne Slot.
Iraola is still assessing his Liverpool squad ahead of the new season, and Elliott could be brought back into the fold after he was on the verge of leaving the club. However, Iraola's initial focus may be on defense after Gomez was brought off in the opening stages.
New signing Jeremy Jacquet failed to make the squad due to a precautionary measure, as he makes his way back from a serious injury. Gomez is expected to play a crucial squad role this season, after Ibrahima Konate left the club at the end of last season to join Real Madrid.
