Kobe Bufkin joins Pelicans after one-year Lakers stint
Bufkin spent the previous 2025-26 NBA season as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers, beginning as a standout player for the team's G League affiliate.
After delivering a strong impression in his time in South Bay with his scoring ability, Bufkin ultimately secured a standard two-year contract with the Lakers last February. In the end, he was waived by the team in April ahead of the previous NBA Playoffs to create a roster spot.
Bufkin appeared in 16 games for the Lakers this past season, averaging 2.9 points in around seven minutes per contest.
He spent the first two seasons of his career with the Atlanta Hawks upon being drafted the No. 15 pick of the 2023 NBA Draft.
After a stellar outing for the New Orleans Pelicans in the recent Las Vegas Summer League where he averaged 21.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists in three games, Bufkin earned himself another opportunity to play in the league.
