Liverpool began the Andoni Iraola era with a victory, overcoming fellow Premier League side Sunderland in Nashville as the new head coach made a winning start to pre-season.
Nineteen-year-old Kieran Morrison opened the scoring with a fine finish into the far corner, before Enzo Le Fee equalized before the half-hour mark. Dominik Szoboszlai, Federico Chiesa, and Lewis Koumas all found the net in the second half, with Timur Tuterov also scoring in an entertaining, goal-filled contest.
However, Liverpool was handed an injury scare after Joe Gomez was forced off with an injury after just eight minutes. The setback will be a concern for the Reds, with defensive options already being monitored during the summer transfer window.

Yan Diomande (RB Leipzig)
German outlet Bild suggests there may still be some hope for Liverpool with Yan Diomande — although there could be even more competition for his signature now.
The Reds are still claimed to be vying for his signature, along with Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid, while Arsenal and Manchester City are also said to be in the mix. Bild suggests that the winger's future is pointing towards a bidding war, with RB Leipzig demanding at least $137 million (€120M).
Although Diomande has agreed a contract until 2031 with PSG, his preferred club, no official offer has been made yet. The player's entourage is now said to be putting pressure on the European champions in order to avoid another club hijacking the deal.

Liverpool.com says: If Real Madrid wasn't in the mix, you'd perhaps think there's still a chance of Diomande making his way to Anfield. After all, the Reds have made more of an effort to sign him this summer than anyone else so far, so that should count for something if PSG isn't willing to stump up the money.
As soon as Real gets involved, though, it usually gets its way. Diomande clearly has his sights set high, and you wouldn't be at all surprised to see him end up at the Bernabeu now if the PSG move doesn't go through.
Oskar Pietuszewski (Porto)
Liverpool is among a host of clubs showing an interest in Porto youngster Oskar Pietuszewski, according to German outlet Fussballdaten.
The 18-year-old winger is said to have admirers in the Reds, Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Newcastle from the Premier League, while Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid also have him on their radar.

Borussia Dortmund is said to have made concrete steps for Pietuszewski, having contacted the player's representatives. He is said to have a $68 million (€60M) release clause in his contract, with Porto refusing to go under that figure.
Liverpool.com says: We'd be lying if we said we knew a lot about Pietuszewski. A quick search, though, indicates he's yet another left-winger — they seem to be in abundance at the moment!

Liverpool really does need a right winger right now, and while it seems Pietuszewski is capable of switching sides, at 18, it feels like that would be a bit of a gamble. The Reds need someone a bit more established.
