PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - Community members put pen to poster Saturday — writing down questions they wanted city councilors to answer about potential renovations at the Moda Center.
“I’m trying to get as much information as I can,” lifelong Blazers fan Carmen Cerruti said.
Portland city councilors from District 2 hosted the town hall, more than a week after the city sent a [draft term sheet](https://www.portland.gov/hello/news/2026/7/16/city-advances-first-draft-moda-center-term-sheet-establishing-framework-keep) to the Trail Blazers. The document outlines provisions, including a binding 20-year agreement to keep the Blazers in Portland and caps on public funding.
“We go to about four to five games a year,” Blazers fans Kate and David Dickson said.
The couple supports the city contributing to the estimated $600 million project. Mayor Keith Wilson previously pledged $120 million, with Multnomah County and the State of Oregon covering the rest.
“People are really concentrated on the amount of money it’s going to cost,” Kate said. “But over time, it’s about families and jobs and small businesses. When we go to games, what you see are families connecting with the community and being together, and you can’t put a price tag on that.”
Others, like Amber Cook, are not so sure. Cook said she thinks the Blazers and owner Tom Dundon should pitch in.
City councilors said it is still unclear how the city would pay for its portion of the remodel.
“It’s to me, shameless to ask us to do all the money when they’re the ones that are going to be making the vast majority of the money,” Cook said. “I don’t think that’s right.”
Despite the varying opinions, the Dicksons hope there is a way for Portlanders, the city and the team to come together.
“I think we just need to get smarter and more collaborative about the negotiations and not so it’s my way or the high way,” Kate said.
City councilmembers are set to discuss the term sheet at its meeting on Aug. 5. They hope to finalize the document later that month.
