After the 76ers acquired Jaylen Brown and LeBron James, details emerged regarding Golden State’s failed pursuit of the former Celtics star. Boston reportedly refused to entertain offers from the Warriors, including packages involving Jimmy Butler, due to a lack of interest in the team's assets.
Philadelphia 76ers completed the biggest blockbuster moves of the 2026-27 offseason.

After obtaining Jaylen Brown in a trade with the Boston Celtics, they also agreed a deal with LeBron James to complete a team that looks stacked on paper.
Brown deal was noted per multiple reports as one of the main reasons why James opted for Philly, but there were more suitors for the services of former Celtics guard.
As Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints reported, Golden State Warriors tried to obtain Brown multiple times.
In the end, none of the offers looked enticing enough for Boston to proceed with a deal.
In fact, Celtics even gave up on listening the Warriors' offers, pulling the plug from the start.
“But to the Dubs' dismay, Boston wasn't even willing to hear any offers Golden State could make since the Celtics held no interest in any of their assets. The Warriors would've traded Jimmy Butler, who they have not wanted to move, along with draft assets in either scenario for Anthony Davis or Jaylen Brown.” Siegel said.
