The Liverpool legend could have a role to play in a Rangers summer transfer.
A Rangers hero’s return to Ibrox could depend on whether or not Liverpool legend Mohamed Salah joins the club he is currently with, it’s claimed.
The Light Blues are seeking reinforcements after a busy summer transfer window under new manager Derek McInnes and wingers are on the agenda. McInnes plays with a 4-4-2 system that puts an emphasis on creativity from out wide and rumours that Vaclav Cerny could return to Govan have emerged.
Cerny made himself a hero in a strong loan from Wolfsburg in the 24/25 season before permanently joining Besiktas last summer. A deal has been mooted as a pricey one for Rangers to complete but the Super Lig side are keen on a blockbuster move for Salah after his Liverpool exit. The Anfield icon’s switch to Turkey would reportedly allow Cerny to clinch a deal back to the Premiership.
How could Mohamed Salah influence Rangers transfer deal?
Transfer journalist Ekrem Konkur said on X: “Rangers FC. Conditions for Vaclav Cerny’s return to Rangers have shifted, with his departure from Besiktas now possible. The expected arrival of Mohamed Salah could facilitate Cerny’s exit. A fee of €10M would be sufficient for the winger.”
Pete O’Rourke, another transfer journalist, had told the Inside Track this month that the deal was financially difficult for Rangers to pull off. He had said: "It’s a difficult deal to do for Rangers for several reasons. Financially, obviously, it'll be very challenging.
“It would take a huge offer from Rangers to persuade Besiktas to cash in on him, so that's why I think it's a difficult deal to do for Rangers. He's on a big contract at Besiktas, and obviously Besiktas signed him for around 5 million euros last year.

Why would a Vaclav Cerny deal be hard for Rangers to accomplish?
“They'll be looking to recoup all of that if not more if they were to sell Cerny. The finances of the deal would make it a hard one for Rangers to try and push and get over the line. So Rangers and Derek McInnes as well be looking elsewhere to strengthen their attacking options in these final weeks of the window."
Vanja Dragojevic is the latest summer signing at Rangers after the midfielder joined from Partizan Belgrade.
