Liverpool and Arsenal have been chasing the same targets during the summer transfer window, and twists and turns have unfolded.
The latest bombshell dropped on Saturday when David Ornstein revealed that the Gunners are exploring a potential move for Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior. They are looking to take advantage of the Brazilian's contract situation as the La Liga giants tell him to sign an extension or be sold.
Liverpool are also alerted to Vinicius' potential availability and have reportedly reaffirmed their interest in the player. Andoni Iraola wants a new elite winger following Mohamed Salah's departure but the Madrid man isn't the only name on his wishlist.

After Yan Diomande indicated he preferred a move to Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool appeared to turn their attention to Bradley Barcola. The Frenchman's future has been the subject of speculation given that if Diomande were to join he might have to make way.
Madrid are now in the race to sign Diomande and are working on a deal to sign the Ivorian attacker. But that might not rule out Barcola's exit and there has been a huge development in the race for the PSG star.
According to SunSport, the Anfield outfit are now confident of beating Arsenal to Barcola and are in the driving seat to sign him. The Gunners were initially favourites to land the former Lyon talent, but the Merseysiders have moved into pole position.
Whether Vinicius' situation has resulted in Mikel Arteta's recruitment staff turning their attention to the Madrid star instead of Barcola remains to be seen. The 23-year-old is expected to cost £100 million, which is a huge fee but £17m shy of Morgan Rogers' switch to Chelsea from Aston Villa.

For Liverpool, signing Barcola would be a perfect way to head into a new era without Salah. His pacey profile could work really well in Iraola's system and it could be intriguing to see him link up with Hugo Ekitike.
