Manchester City have edged ahead of Arsenal in the race for Barcelona midfielder Marc Bernal. The 19-year-old Spain prospect has attracted serious interest from several Premier League sides, but City have gone further by actively exploring the possibility of a deal.
Arsenal are also monitoring the Barcelona academy graduate, along with Chelsea. However, reports indicate City view Bernal as a potential option to strengthen their midfield, particularly amid uncertainty over the future of Rodri. The Etihad club have already made contact to assess whether a move could be realistic.
Bernal signed a new contract with Barcelona running until 2029 and has a reported €500million release clause, making any transfer extremely difficult. He has established himself as a regular under Hansi Flick after recovering from a serious knee injury and is regarded as one of the club’s most valuable young assets.
