Michael Olise's future has been a hot topic throughout the summer transfer window, with Liverpool in the queue of clubs who would like to sign him from Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund has told Liverpool to forget about signing Michael Olise, as he 'will' be playing in Germany again next season. Olise, 24, has been strongly linked with a move to Liverpool amid their search for a wide forward to replace Mo Salah.

Real Madrid are also interested in signing the Frenchman, who was superb at the World Cup. Olise provided seven assists in eight games, building on an outstanding season with Bayern.

The winger racked up 48 goals and assists in 52 games as Vincent Kompany's side ran away with the Bundesliga title and won the DfB Pokal. It's no wonder that Bayern want to keep Olise are reportedly preparing to offer him a bumper new contract.

But as for his immediate future, Freund is relaxed. Asked specifically about Real's interest and claims that Olise is desperate to join Los Blancos, the Bayern chief replied: "This is absolutely not an issue for us.

"We're delighted that Michael is back from his holiday. He'll play an important role for FC Bayern this season, just as he did last season, too."

Freund was speaking after a youthful Bayern side lost 2-1 against third-tier Wehen Wiesbaden in a friendly. Big-name stars such as Olise and Harry Kane are expected to feature later in pre-season.

Last month, it was reported that Real had submitted a £130million bid for Olise. However, the Spanish giants issued a statement saying that there had been no 'direct or indirect' with the 24-year-old.

Part of the statement read: "Real Madrid also wishes to highlight the excellent institutional relationship it maintains with Bayern Munich -- with whom it shares a long history of mutual respect, collaboration, and admiration -- and regrets the circulation of speculation which does not reflect reality."

Given Bayern's firm stance, both Liverpool and Real have been forced to identify alternatives to Olise. One of them is RB Leipzig's Yan Diomande, who Real are said to have bid £85m for this week.

Leipzig rejected the offer and are demanding a fee of at least £100m. Liverpool are also looking at Paris Saint-Germain's Bradley Barcola and Monaco's Maghnes Akliouche to bolster Andoni Iraola's squad.
